EFF Annual Research Forum

Online Program

Application Information will be Posted Soon.
The Annual Research Forum will address the priorities of effective endocrine treatment, disease state care coordination and the impact of both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions on obesity and metabolism. The expert faculty lectures will educate fellows on causality and impacts of endocrine diseases and therapies on overall patient health, as well as introduce newer therapies that may not be fully utilized at their institution. EFF Fellows Research Grant Program award recipients are also invited to present their projects which focus on clinical and academic research in areas such as diabetes, obesity, cardio-metabolism, adrenal diseases, and skeletal health. This exchange results in improved all around professional competence which the participating fellows will be able to bring to their own research and patients.
Program Format
To reach a larger number of fellows with busy schedules and limited ability to travel for educational meetings, the Annual Research Forum is an online program. The faculty lectures and fellow presentations will be available in our new invitation-only Research Exchange portal and participants will have two weeks to engage with the program content during this time. At the end of the viewing period, there will be a live webinar for faculty lecture and fellow presentation Q&A and small group discussions on career development opportunities.
As with all EFF programs, fellows are encouraged to submit an abstract or a case study for presentation in the poster gallery. Poster presentations should be 8-10 minutes in duration and a member of the faculty will provide feedback to the fellow.
Eligibility
The Annual Research Forum is open for all endocrinology fellows and young investigators (recent graduate with less than 1-year post graduation) working at an ACGME accredited endocrine program and sponsored by a full-time faculty member. Endocrinology fellowship program directors are invited to select fellows from their programs who meet the criteria and whose education would be enhanced by participating in this program. The fellow should hold a MD, DO, or MBBS degree and have completed medical residency training. PhD trainee, MD-PhD, and PhD applicants should have no more than two years post-doctorate experience.
Learning Objectives
  • Identify new areas of diabetes, obesity, adrenal, skeletal, and cardio-metabolic disorder research that offer new inroads to effective therapies.
  • Identify key components to be included in diabetes, obesity, adrenal, skeletal, and cardio-metabolic disorders basic science and clinical research.
  • Discuss research study designs that may improve on current and novel approaches.
  • Enhance skills in scientific thought and discussion through mentor and group-driven discussion of research and presentations.
  • Develop a better understanding of "what it takes" to become an expert researcher and to develop a career in academic medicine.
  • Enhance research presentation and feedback skills in a peer-reviewed setting.
